Customized FileMaker Applications for Animal Facility Management
Comp Medtrics LLC has extensive experience designing and implementing digital tablet-based solutions for managing various aspects of animal facilities. If you are considering changing or moving towards electronic facility management, there are a number of unique advantages to a FileMaker application.
Most out-of-the-box facility management software is focused on IACUC protocol management, animal ordering, billing, and census. These are central to any animal facility and should be a focus. However, while many of these platforms have modules for various aspects of animal facility management, they all require you to accept the processes built into the software and adapt your operation to the platform. FileMaker allows you to design applications around the way your operation works. Your terminology, your preferences, your workflows, just digitized.
Or maybe you want to keep track of something there is no existing application for? Comp Medtrics designs animal facility software with expandability in mind.

What is Claris FileMaker?
Claris FileMaker is a database design application that was created by Apple in the 1980s. Over the past 40 years, Claris FileMaker has evolved as a premier database solution for small-to-mid-sized businesses to create customized software applications for their businesses. The FileMaker platform has stood the test of time.
Visit www.claris.com for more information on the platform.
How does it work?
All of the data is stored in your custom FileMaker database file (application) that resides on a dedicated computer (server). This server runs FileMaker Server 19 which makes your application accessible to all of your users on a desktop computer, a web browser, or the FileMaker Go iPad app.
An alternative to FileMaker Server is FileMaker Cloud. FileMaker Cloud users upload their applications to a Claris-managed site for users to access. There is no need to invest in a server and no need for on-site IT support to manage the server. Per user, FileMaker Cloud costs more than FileMaker server, but for some organizations, it is a less complicated way to get started.
I'm happy to help you understand what may be the best solution for your organization.
